About Ian
I was born in 1955 in Bromley, UK, and came to Canada when I was very small, living with my family in Montreal. We briefly returned to the UK, where I lived in a small village just outside of Ilkley, Yorkshire. We later moved to Ontario and I grew up in Clarkson, spending my late teens, twenties and early thirties in Oakville. In 1977 I graduated from the University of Toronto with a B.A in psychology. After trying out the corporate world for a while, I decided self-employment would be more to my liking so I owned and drove my own cab for Halton Taxi for a number of years. Although I enjoy driving, I enjoy the music business even more and later bought a small record store, Laughing Gnome Records, in Stratford, Ontario, where I now live. I ended up closing the record store in 1993, around the same time I met my wife, Nancy. I now work for the Stratford Festival Theatre as a production driver, and over the past few years I have worked hard to organize the other drivers there to be a bargaining unit of the I.A.T.S.E. union local 357. My interests include golf, photography, model-making, computers and computer gaming, travel, books and music, both listening and collecting. I’m also an active Ebay seller with a high feedback rating. I enjoy searching for interesting items to sell. Some of my auctions can be seen here or by using the "auctions" link. Nancy and I were married in January of 2001. I have two teenaged sons who live with us. |
